Dwight Howard Comes Away with 3rd Consecutive Kia Defensive POY Award

This is starting to become quite redundant. Monday, Dwight Howard was award his third consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award after another dominating season defensively. He led the NBA in double-doubles with 66, was second in the league with 14.1 rebounds per game, second in blocks at 2.38 per game, and anchored the Orlando Magic defense which was ranked fourth in points allowed per game (93.5).

Howard is the first player to ever win the award three consecutive times. Dikembe Mutombo and Hakeem Olajuwon are tied for the most Defensive Player of The Year awards overall with 4 a piece.  Continue reading

Kobe’s comments not taken lightly in the gay community, receives $100,000 fine from NBA.

Commissioner David Stern, in an attempt to prevent a war with the gay community and preserve the image of his league, fined Kobe Bryant a hefty $100,000 for his comments during the Lakers’ win Tuesday night against the Spurs.

Kobe was vexed about a foul call that forced him to go to the bench in one of the most important games of the regular season.

When Bryant got to the bench, after punching the chair and throwing a towel, yelled to referee Benny Adams “f**king f**got” (see below). Continue reading

Morehead State: More Than A 13 Seed

Morehead State

95.5% of the 5.9 million people who filled out a bracket on ESPN had Louisville beating Morehead State. 76 Percent of those had Louisville advancing to the Sweet 16. Its safe to say most brackets have been busted! Much credit given to the Morehead State players and coaching staff but this doesn’t come as much of a surprise to Morehead followers. The Eagles went down to Florida in November to take on the 10th ranked Gators and lost a close one 61-55. Continue reading
