Eastern Conference Playoff Preview: Magic-Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks limped their way into the playoffs on a 6 game losing streak, the longest losing streak heading into the playoffs since the Warriors took a 10 game skid into the playoffs in 1989.

Basketball is a game of runs. The Hawks seem to be the only team in the NBA that refuses to accept this reality, despite being one of the most exciting teams in the NBA when they’re making a run of their own. Heads go down and the morale of the whole team drops when other teams go on runs against the Hawks. This is the root of all the inconsistencies of the Hawks this season. You don’t know what Hawks team is going to show up to the game, leaving most to question how motivated the team is to play under first year Head Coach Larry Drew. Continue reading

Eastern Conference Playoff Preview: Celtics-Knicks

The New York Knicks are back in the playoffs for the first time since they were swept by the New Jersey Nets in 2004.

This Knick unit has been inconsistent since the February deal that brought in Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets. They have struggled to find an identity, at times looking like a well-oiled offensive machine, and at other times looking like a bad AAU team. As they continue to grow as a unit, I see big things in the future of the New York Knicks- but who doesn’t?

Unfortunately for them, and Knicks fans who are the most ungrateful yet loyal fans int NBA, they are facing a Celtics team in the first round of this years playoffs who have played together, know their roles, and play them well.

Boston swept the season series 4 games to none. Continue reading
